CAYA "Come As You Are" Worship Team

The CAYA (“Come As You Are”) Worship Team consists of both musicians and singers. Although we always pursue excellence, we are a relaxed and welcoming group of musicians. The weekly fellowship and prayer during rehearsals is uplifting and we strive to enrich the spiritual lives of those with whom we serve. We view the gift of music as a way to celebrate God’s presence in our lives and in our church.

We use main-stream contemporary Christian songs as well as songs and hymns from the United Methodist Hymnal, The Faith We Sing Hymnal and the Songs for Praise and Worship Hymnal for the weekly services.  We occasionally play praise concerts and/or fundraisers. When playing in venues outside of our home church we are known as “Stained Glass”.

The musicians play as a band which is currently comprised of keyboard, 2 rhythm guitars, lead guitar, bass and drums. We rehearse weekly for two hours on Wednesday evenings. The first hour is band only and the second is with the singers.

Our singers consist of both children and adults. Several families and/or family members participate together. They rehearse for one hour every week on Wednesday evening.

Being able to read music is not a requirement;

many of our current members learn music by ear.

Attendance at rehearsals is encouraged only.

We understand that, “life happens.”

Sunday morning commitment is 8:40 – 10:00 am. Interested in participating or looking for more information? Please feel free to contact Director, Dorothy Cowles, at dorothy@simsburyumc.org.
