Christmas Giving Tree!

By taking an ornament from the Giving Tree in Wesley Hall, you’ll help provide Christmas gifts for local families in need as well as 55 children thru Covenant to Care for Children (CCC). New ornaments have been added! All ornaments are clearly marked with the due date for that item and each gift should be returned with the ornament attached. CCC items are due by Sunday, December 10 and Outreach items are due by Sunday, December 17. We can also shop for you! Monetary donations are always welcome and may be left in the offering plate or mailed to the church office. Please make checks payable to SUMC and note "Giving Tree" in the memo or on the envelope if giving cash. Contact Debbie Dunn at 860.651.4408 or Joanne Maurer, LLI Director at 860.408.9467 with questions. Thank you in advance for your generous holiday spirit!

Visitation Team Ministry Opportunity

The Lay Visitation Team led by Sandee Fleet assists with Pastoral Care by visiting people on a regular basis who are home-bound or in Assisted-Living Facilities. The team also includes Eucharistic Ministers who celebrate Holy Communion with those whom they visit. This past year we served 17 people with a team of 10 volunteers. Several people on the team have recently retired from this ministries so there are new opportunities for service in this area. If you enjoy visiting with seniors one-on-one, if think you have a spiritual gift of mercy/compassion, and have good active listening skills, this could be a great ministry for you. For more info, please contact Sandy Fleet at 508.971.8085

Disaster Relief: Harvey, Irma, Maria, Fires

To help with the relief efforts for all the recent hurricanes and fires thru UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), you may write a check payable to SUMC (so that your donation appears on your SUMC 2017 giving statement).  Note "Disaster Relief" on your check and SUMC will forward the money thru the conference to UMCOR. Checks may be left in the plate or mailed to the church office to the attention of Michelle. Please contact the church office with any questions.
